More attractive pieces by the relatively undemanding Adolphe Botte:

Re: French Piano Music
Don't suppose anyone might have the three outstanding pieces in circulation by Emile Forgues?
It's very frustrating not being able to find any more of his works. From online research I've done, it seems he also wrote a number of other pieces aside from those listed by Fétis, published or inédit, including movements for a Concerto in D-flat; a Fantaisie sur le Stabat de Rossini (published by Troupenas), a Fantaisie sur motifs de Wilhem/Souvenirs de Wilhem, a Fantaisie sur la Reine de Chypre, a Fantaisie sur Charles VI (or VII), etc. If he was in the same league as Joseph Ascher, Adolfo Fumagalli (fantastic CD soon to be released at Toccata Classics), Alexandre Goria, he deserves to be investigated more.
Seems he republished a few of his works under different titles, so duplication doesn't help, but it's presumably because of his very busy family life and as a travelling pianist. I'm beginning to wonder if he was affected, as were many others (including Alkan), by the events that followed after the ruling of the Paris Commune in the early 1870s. There doesn't seem to be any mention of him after the mid-1860s.
Perhaps Jean-Séb can find out more?

Thanks Jim. Yup, I'd noted they were there, but wondered if anyone had them already in PDF/shareable format.Jim Faston wrote:Opp. 3, 8 & 9 are held at the BNF but not yet digitized.

Thanks for the Pfeiffer Sonata, 4C. I was just playing through his Etudes last week so this Sonata is a nice addition to our Pfeiffer collection.

My patience has not been rewarded. I've tried desperately for hours to download this file but I only get the answer "the line is busy". Too bad!pianojay wrote:Patience is rewarded:
