Re: Musical puns, jokes, and teasers
I think all of this stuff from Tim and Rob is great. The mere fact that I don't understand a word of it should not deter them or others from continuing in this vein.

Crna Gora = Black mountain.
Crna doesn't seem to help.
Gora seems to be linked with Goran.
Goran seems to be linked with Helen and Yelena.
My brain's starting to hurt now.
Hiller?

Crna in Montenegrin means black. Most of the slavic languages remain mutually intelligle to some extent. So Polish for black is a very similar word and is the name of the composer. He wrote HUUUUUUGE amounts and is incredibly well known and detested by young pianists the world over.

It must be Czerny.
Why it is that he's so well thought of in mainland Europe, but not in the UK?

Yes. Finally!Timtin wrote:Czerny?
I believe Czerny simply means black. And I assumed this because I know Crna Gora means black mountain (ie Montenegro). The suffix I referred to (the NY) I must explain. French for naked is 'nu'. The 'ny' in German can sometimes be pronounced exactly as the French 'nu'. It was only there to confirm the clue. I could have suggested the suffix was derived from the City that was loved so much it was named twice - ie 'NY, NY' (as opposed to Baden Baden of course).
Now, last one: YAAAY = Hooray = (4). Hint, drop the H. Substitute the vowels. (Austrian 1906–1988). First name is NOT Frank.

Well - it was fun! Masochists like me actually enjoy a bit of pain.
