Dear Alfor,

thank you very much indeed for excellent scans! But there is a missing page in Fiedler op.4. The first page of the third piece is missing, please could you scan it?

Being an Alkan afficionado from way back, I actually have a physical copy of this (as well as most of his other works). I think it is out of copyright now (being more than 25 years since publication). It is essentially an annotated version of the original publications, most of which are now available on the net. I must admit it is a very good and entertaining edition IMHO, so it wold be worth your scanning it.

Hi Alfor,

On the Alkan-Lewenthal book of 100++ pages, my personal thinking is that your time might be better spent scanning the extraordinarily rare material you usually post instead. Not that the Alkan isn't rare of course...but his works are available on IMSLP and many other sheet music download sites internationally. I doubt that there is anything in the Lewenthal collection that isn't readily available elsewhere on-line. Also the Lewenthal book was published by Schirmer and was available here in the US for many years. I've had one since it came out, along with the various LP's of Alkan that Lewenthal recorded at the time.

I am enjoying the Fiedler scores very much, along with everything else you have recently posted. For all of these, as always Vielen Dank!

ein "blitzsauberes" Stück, in the Mendelssohn tradition,
not very exciting, but an excellent velocity study nevertheless
(it is a bit strange, that so few Liszt pupils tried to compose in the style of their master) Ignaz BRÜLL
Sonate op. 73
interesting piece, though the piano style of this accomplished composer,
pianist and conductor (friend of Brahms) sometimes appears even amateurish.
Nevertheless spots of great beauty
Scherzo Mendelssohn influenced, other parts show Brahms influence (last bars resemble op. 15)
page 9: A major resembles Regers "Mariä Wiegenlied"
page 24 is (or sounds like) a beautiful folk-song (British, Irish??)
