I don't have the roll scanned yet otherwise I'd post a midi file for you. It's a great rag played in one-step tempo. I've been looking for the sheet music too (just a photocopy for me!) but the major collections I know about don't seem to have it
Dear Frank,
I'm familiar with the Pete Wendling piano roll and there's also a midi file of the first two strains on internet:
http://home.earthlink.net/~rollertunes/id48.htm
Unfortunately the piano roll sounds to have been rather heavily arranged, so I didn't try to transcribe it.
But I know of somebody who plays the "Fig Leaf Rag" beautifully and so I think I will ask him for the sheet music, that I'll eventually post in the ragtime section here.
I'll let you know if I'll manage to obtain it.
I really enjoed the new pieces you uploaded and found the Mayerl arrangements very interesting. Since you wrote that "Limehouse Blues" is a favorite of yours, I post the Mayerl recording here.
Maybe you already have it, but I think that people who don't may find it interesting.
Then also another nice recording by Billy Mayerl, "The Jazz Master": this doesn't seem to be on Pianophilia already and I have the sheet music of that, included in a folio by Claude Bolling....when I happen to find that folio back among the many things, I'll scan and post it.
Best
Luigi

Dear Luigi,
Glad you enjoyed the Mayerl scores! I hope you are successful in finding the score to "Fig Leaf Rag" by William R. Lawrence. That's a very tough piece of music to obtain, and would be a welcome addition to our archives. Thanks also for the Mayerl recordings, especially "Limehouse Blues," which I still think is his most exciting transcription.
I hope your holidays are relaxing and enjoyable. I'll look forward to your comments on future postings when you return!
All Best,
Frank

Thanks so much for everything there's been posted lately! Specially the Mayerl transcriptions are awesome. Also like the mp3 Luigi kindly posted, I'd like to ask if anyone has more recordings of Mayerl tranciptions, because they're really great and it would be helpful if I could hear some of them.
Thanks in advance.

Billy Golwyn was another very talented German novelty piano composer and arranger. His arrangements are probably the most densely scored of all in syncopated piano, and have a pronounced "piano roll" feeling to them. I'm aware of 5 Golwyn folios and 2 original compositions, all of which will be posted here. These copies were made in the days of over-sized sheets and under-sized copy machines, so please forgive a cut off note here and there!
