Just tried Fiedler Fantasiestucke. And it was exquisite. Simple harmony, with an excellent balance in the piano writing. It owes a lot to Brahms, specially on the left hand patterns.

P.S. I forgot to tell you the subtitle of Rosenthal's Romanze:
"Albeniz in Wien" (Albeniz in Vienna) ;)

(both deserve a high-quality scan!)

P.S. As the subtitle of Rosenthal's Romanze is hardly readible,
it might also be: "Granados in Wien" ;)

I am happy to complement this by a 2-piano version of one of these dances.

Many many thanks for all the incredible treasures you are offering!

with very economic use of the material.)

Alfor, thank you so much for your recent postings. There is so much to explore that I'm getting behind. I love the Freidman pieces and today's Illiashenko Preludes are getting attention here.

Just so members knows, and if interested. The John Vaino Forsman Complete sonatas has been released on BIS label. Quite an old release already, since 1998. I just ordered mine !

Dirk FOCK
Dutch conductor & composer. Dirk Fock was born in Batavia, Java -
where his father was governor general of the Dutch East Indies - on June 18, 1886.
He died in Locarno, Switzerland on May 24, 1973. He studied, composed and
conducted in Europe, but made his American Debut as conductor with a
specially assembled orchestra at Carnegie Hall in N.Y. on April 12, 1920;
also conducted orchestral groups elsewhere in the U.S., and in Vienna-

Drei Balladen für das Pianoforte op. 3 (dedicated to Busoni)
Good music! Late-romantic style, Brahms influence. Especially No. 3
might also have been called "Northern Rhapsody".
