This really is wonderful, what a batch of beauties. I wonder who will be hogging the printer at work tomorrow??
There is not much music that can send me to bed with a smile on my face, but these delightful transcriptions certainly will.
Top marks sir.

Hi Thal,
Glad you like the transcriptions (some of them might work for piano & banjo you know!)

Actually, "Marigold" could sound rather well in that format, as perhaps others of Mayerl's tunes.
Here are three Mayerl rarities... These were apparently published as part of (Mayerl's?) "Standard Course, Part XII." One of them (the Prelude) refers to one of the 78rpm instruction disks which Mayerl made in conjunction with his "Modern School Of Syncopation." Enjoy!

Hi Frank,
Wonderful stuff - Ambrosia - Nirvana - etc..
Love it!
Now I need a year of week-ends with no kids etc...

Thanks for putting together a comprehensive list of all the Mayerl published on Pianophilia. This is the tool we needed to make sure we don't trip over each other and wind up duplicating postings.
... ...
Tobyjj, to whatever extent you can help me keep on track without duplicating postings I'd certainly appreciate it. I'll begin the postings tonight!
All Best,
Frank

Well, I'm keeping track but not sure I can keep up with your speed ! Let me refine the file - (maybe excel) and perhaps I can periodically send you the updated version.
Is it possible to send files through the private message function? (which I'm not sure how to operate, yet).
Keep 'em coming!
Best Regards,
tobyjj

Maybe - but as far as Marigold is concerned, I think for me it would have to be a matter of "hearing is believing" !
Marigold was an immensely popular tune in its time, so much so, that Mayerl apparently came to hate the piece since he was continuously requested to play it. As a result, he played it in increasingly faster tempos or stop-start rhythms rather spoiling it in the process. Maybe he hoped thereby to persuade his public that it wasn't worth hearing!

No, we do not permit file attachments in private messages.

OK
Thks for that info Fred.
On same subject is there a"help" file or manual for using all the functions, options or even listing what they are? It must be a manual for idiots, you understand, since I count myself as one in some disciplines - computer technology being one of them.
I know there is a FAQ button, but I every time I click that button a new browser page opens with a box telling me that there is a "general sql error" and some other stuff that makes little sense to me. I then find that I have been logged out of Pianophilia and have to log in again all over again. Why is this ? I wonder. If I could open the faq, I might perhaps see the same question with a corresponding FAQ (frequently answered question). Then again how do I know that FAQ really stands for frequently asked question(s) and even if it does, can it simultaneously stand as an acronym for "frequently answered question(s)". Maybe the questions aren't answered at all. Maybe there are just questions.
What? ... oh... I'm rambling -
right

There is the standard phpBB documentation, but that is mainly for admins. Most if not all of what you need is in the menus and icons. At the moment, our ISP is having some connectivity issues which they are not fully on top of yet, hence the error messages (I get them too). Some patience may well be required here.

I am pretty certain some of them would old chap, especially the ones that are more brisk.
Jazz banjo sounds best on pieces with fast chord changes such as Tiger Rag, That's a Plenty & Waiting for the Robert E Lee.
Amongst your collections, I don't suppose you have any George Formby???

Hi Thal,
I can't remember offhand if I have any George Formby pieces, but I will check tonight when I get back from work and post anything I can find.
All Best,
Frank
