Dear all

Here are transcriptions of some Edwardian songs by Oliver Herbert. They could have gone in various places I suppose. I find them charming - sentimental but sincere. The originals seem not well known and these transcriptions appear very obscure. Hope you like them.

Dan,
Thank you very much for the Oliver Songs. The arrangements look very nice and not difficult so
will bring a lot of pleasure I am sure.

Sorry for the duplication. I should have checked more carefully (and saved myself an hour or so). Anyway, the other book looks great, thanks for that.

No problem Dan. (It's better to have two scans of something than none at all.)

I just noticed a 2011 Ondine recording of Sibelius Symphonies 2 & 5 transcribed for piano solo and performed by Henri Sigfridsson. The transcription of the 5th is based on that of Ekman.

He's also recorded other Sibelius transcriptions, and some Palmgren.

Interesting!
Incidently, the world* is waiting for some enterprising professional pianist to fill lots of
other gaps in the piano transcription recording repertoire as well.
Perhaps the complete Beethoven/Winkler String Quartets would be a good place to start.
*Well, me, at least.

This dance is from the 1830 transcription by Meyer of Spohr's Jessonda.
(Serious collectors might be interested in the series of opera transcriptions by Alfred Devaux
and E. F. Rimbault from 1838, which also includes Jessonda, published by McConnell.)

Is there a 2H transcription of Tchaikovsky's Adieu Forets from Jeanne D'Arc?

Thanks,
