Le Croise en Egypte has indeed surfaced, and it is the Edition Bijou. Unfortunately, it isn't two hands, but the vocal score. I thought it was odd for a 2 hand score to run to 319 pages of very small print.

Ouch! I'm completely at a loss to understand the Hindemith phenomenon - I too had trouble with his music for ages, thinking it was dry, dull and academic, but - as so often with really, really good music - it took a little time to grow on me, and after a while the mist suddenly parted and Hindemith was revealed as the absolutely cracking composer he in fact is - I bought all the CPO CDs of his music, and can safely say I've never heard a piece I didn't like. The Pittsburgh Symphony (with its extra-gritty dissonance) was probably the biggest challange so far, but even that work came right as well, eventually.
Surely such works as the Symphonic Metamorphoses and the exquisite Das Marienleben (to name just two) couldn't fail to appeal to anyone even moderately sympathetic to early 20th Century music, and I could add loads more marvellous scores: The stunning Concerto for Orchestra, the Concert Music for strings and brass, any of the Kammermusik, the string quartets, the flute sonata ... The piano music appeals less so far, although In Einer Nacht is a remarkable smorgasbord of styles, with some delicious inventions inside.

On the other hand the Germanic flavor of much of Kurt Weill's music is too much for me except in small doses. The Second Symphony is magnificent though; a real minor masterpiece in my opinion.

Not to forget Hindemith's masterpiece for piano, the Suite 1922! Fabulous.

In the right hands, Hindemith's instrumental sonatas and chamber pieces are excellent works. While they're certainly not going to effect a sea change in anybody's musical sensibilities, they are really well-crafted and rewarding to study.

I do, however, find that I enjoy post-Hindemith composers like Niels Viggo Bentzon and Vagn Holmboe a lot more.

Just to point out that Sibley released a not very common 2H ed.Peters of the five Beethoven Concertos (plus op.80). Nos.3 and 5 were not in circulation (as far as I know) and the others were, but in a less clear scan
