Hello Alfor

Thank you for the very interesting Feinberg album. To my knowledge the original Children's Album finished at the Mexican Song [No. 14] and the four-hand pieces were a later addition [these had been originally published separately]. Both works are from 1961-62. It's nice to have them all in one volume.

I have given a translation below of all the pieces. Unfortunately, I have never come across a copy of Op 27a so unable to verify, but suspect the three National Songs may fit this category but in a slightly different order as mentioned by Rob [and that might be simply at the whim of the editor].

No. The Chuvash Melody op24 no1 is NOT the same as The Chuvash Lullaby op27 no2. I was trying to add evidence that the Three PIeces are indeed op27.

... if I may add my perspective on feinberg's opera 24a & 27a: op.24a no.1 is the lullaby in B, op.24a no.2 the melody in d (mistakenly identified as op.24 no.1 in one of the scans that's been circulating ...). so, the georgian and armenian melodies in alfor's scan are likely from op.27a, but the chuvash melody included in the album should be op.24a no.1 ...

Thanks - that's very useful. Good to know that we should not confuse the Chuvash with the Tatars.

A very lovely Feinberg collection, Alfor. Thanks for posting the complete set. I reserve the right to remain confused on certain Feinberg opus numbers, however.

I have checked with all my Feinberg scores and vvedenski is correct - the Georgian and Armenian Songs are from Op 27a, and the Chuvash Lullaby is Op 24 No. 1. Mystery solved .

Out of interest - and my mistake - I had seen Op 27a by Feinberg, this work was included in a posting by Alfor in the "Anthology of Soviet Piano Music – Vol 2" ]part A] - this gives all three pieces from Op 27a including the missing Tatar Song [teach me to check my Russian Album's in future].

Yes FredB, Musicology is very much alive and thriving in PP So many riches are posted on PP it is hard to keep track of them all.
