To celebrate the Eve of St. Agnes, here's quite a tough quiz.
Below are 10 anagrams of obscure composers listed on IMSLP with
something in common. What is the link, and who are the composers?

As a clue to the link, do the Christian names in your solutions
remind you of certain other slightly less obscure composers?

They do indeed Tim, that was my port of entry, work out the common Christian names, all the Johanns etc. and reduce the anagram to workable proportions.
Incidentally No.2 is our great Welsh friend Joseph Haydn Parry.

7. is Johann Franz Peter Deysinger so you had to go and give us a wrong anagram with 26 letters, one letter too many and two wrong letters (CR) at that included
Shouldn't the clue have been 'Frighten and jeer zany person"?

Yes, you're absolutely right! I wrote it correctly in my note
book, then for some reason, when typing, zany became crazy.
Must be Alzheimer's creeping up - either that or the booze.

I've only just seen this. Thanks for the compliment, Brian - I particularly appreciate the "lad" bit ( having recently attained my Grand Climacteric year).

What an absolute beast of a problem - not sure that I can contribute anything meaningful (and with the start of our academic year, I haven't the time to ponder at the moment). Very well done to Brian for getting as far as he did.

PS Just worked out number 8: William Wallace Gilchrist

I don't know how you both manage to do them! Amazing!

Obviously no.8 has William Vincent Wallace as his 'other half'.

That just leaves two to get, nos.3 and 9.

As clues, no.3's 'other half' (of whom I'm a big fan) begat another answer's
'other half', and no.9 was English, born 1814, and his 'other half' was his
godfather, also English, born in 1765.

All 10 solutions contain two names within those full names, which remind
me (and presumably others) of other less obscure composers.
