Correct!!! Well done Jo.

The numbers are, of course, 33+467+8+1+453+10+76+433+19+1000 = 2500.
Sq rt (2500) = 50.
50/10 = 5 = Fate, as in the occasionally used nickname of Beethoven's Fifth.

Easy-peasy, especially as every clue had two ways of finding each number,
and even if one clue hadn't been found, but the solution correctly guessed,
that clue could have been found by working back from the solution.

If you like weird things, this site is worth checking out, and not just for the daft scores!

You'll notice the first page from Stockhausen's masterpiece Helicopter String Quartet,
which sounds like this:-

Here's another little anagram quiz with which to kick-off the new year.

As before, there are up to ten anagrams, and their solutions have a certain
composer in common:-

1. Outed (5),
2. Nor peel (7),
3. Ms. Flame (7),
4. Segovia (7),
5. Atone sin (8),
6. Ma paid VAT (9),
7. User quits (9),
8. Novice oats (10),
9. Resurrection (12),
10. Acute brain aches (7,2,6).

What are the ten answers, who is the composer?
(Hint: No. 10 is the name of one of his best known works.)

Enjoy!

Number 10 describes my first response to the the quiz - I had no clue how to proceed. I eventually managed to solve 8 = Evocations, after which a bit of Googling threw up several possibilities. Numbers 4 and 9 are names of two of his works, and several other clues are, in fact, anagrams ("up to ten"... mean of you, Tim). I haven't worked through all the clues, but the answer is clear: Roussel.

Correct, of course. All the answers are on the Roussel page of IMSLP.

Hi Tim

I was wondering if you'd be producing a festive quiz for us. Let's get the ball rolling:
