Timtin, **ALL** such calls you get from supposedly ISP "support" are scams. Never listen to these guys or download & install any software from them on under ANY conditions if they are the ones originating the call. These guys will probably install ransomware in your machine. Also ISP's don't usually initiate calls to customers (unless trying to sell you something), the customers are usually the ones calling them--after which--if you are very lucky--you **might** get a callback. Once upon a time I had a problem with one of my Mac's and as I initiated the call to them and they returned my call, I did install some software--but recall that I initiated the service call.

Glad you got out of this one safely, Timtin.

Hi Fleubis,
I realise this subject is very much off-topic, so I'll keep it brief.
Thank you for your wise words.
Regards, Tim.

Off-topic yes, but also very salient.

Yes, so sorry to hear of this misfortune, Timtim.

I do have a search request; and, this may be a long shot, but has anyone seen Edouard Wolff's Op. 159 Barcarolle?

I always get excited when I find a totally forgotten composer - as with the case with Burkath [even friends in Poland had never heard of him]. If anyone is aware of further works or information, would be very grateful if they would kindly share.

Malcolm

Wladyslaw Burketh. Born 1892, Real Ositniaczka [now Ukraine]: died 1967, Lidawa, Latvia. Polish pianist and composer. Initially, studied organ with Mieczyslaw Surzyński; then studied at the Conservatory of the Imperial Russian Musical Society in Kiev. In 1920, he undertook further studies at the Frederic Chopin School of Music in Warsaw with Michalowski. He also studied and graduated in Humanities at the Society for Academic Courses. From 1921, Burkath was a professor at the Moniuszko School of Music in Lublin. He also concertized extensively in Poland (Poznan, Vilnius, Gdańsk) and abroad (Latvia, Estonia & Finland). In 1925 he settled in Warsaw, where from 1927 he taugh piano privately. He also published a comprehensive study on Lithuanian folk song.

He was apparently a talented pianist, accompanist, composer, plus in addition acted as a music critic and theater director, being an associate of "Antennas". In 1930s he made some recordings with Mermaid Records.

Works List:

Op 3 Three Songs for voice & piano
Op 4 Chant Triste for piano (Idzikowski)
Op 5 Legende for piano (Idzikowski)
Op 7 Three Preludes for piano
Op 14 Two Songs for voice & piano
