If you want to train your eyes you are strongly advísed to use the respective IMSLP files!!

Xaver SCHARWENKA
Album für Pianoforte Band II. (op. 49 Zwei Menuette, op. 50 Phantasiestücke, Op. 51 Tarantella & Polonaise, op. 52 Sonatinen No. 1 & 2. Once you acknowledge that S. is pretty much a man of the old school, you will be able to appreciate these pieces!)

Xaver SCHARWENKA
Album op. 43 Heft II.
Scharwenka Album op.43 II.pdf
Klaviermusik von heute
nice Anthology with short pieces by GDR composers (they all had their pre-GDR lives, though!
The presumably oldest piece is by far the most modern!)
Klaviermusik von heute.pdf
Posted as an example of the early piano style of this composer:
Rodion SHCHEDRIN
Troika** (not available separately; this edition out-of-print)

Karl NAWRATIL (Karel Navratil) Czech composer, 1867-1936

from wikipedia:
"Karel Navrátil (* 24. April 1867 in Prag; † 23.

fine work of noble restraint; some Brahms influence; has something in common with Variations op. 3 by Herzogenberg; recommended for the sensitive fingers of our Iron Man (vulgo Ferruccio)
Nawratil Variationen op.7.pdf
STRAUSS-GRÜNFELD
Frühlingsstimmen op. 57
non-Godowskian arrangement which has the merit of preserving all the power and sweep of the original!
Strauss-Grünfeld Frühlingsstimmen op.57.pdf

phikfy wrote:Dear Alfor, I just performed the Alexandrov Sonata-Skazka Op.4 last night in a public concert. The score was posted (unearthed) by you in the old PP. I think this would be a Hong Kong premiere. Once I got the video, I would post it here and dedicate the performance to you, as a gratitude for your generosity for continuously posting so many rare and wonderful scores. Mega thanks to you, once again!

Best regards,

Great!! Eagerly waiting to watch the video!

As I cannot be sure when the video of my concert can be ready, I can only half-realize my promise at the meantime:

Here's a private recording of my rehearsal just the night before the concert. It is not flawless from every perspective (playing, recording, piano, interpretation, etc). However, I still hope to pay homage to PP with my video: this is actually a collective effort - we all post here, we play the music from here, and we all learn a lot here.

Best,
Koon

This is excellent old chap. There is not much in life that is more uplifting than a Strauss Waltz transcription, apart from watching Andy Murray get thrashed that is.

Well done.
