Re: Alfor's Rarities
Keyboard delghts, Alfor! Indeed they are. The very interesting Grosz Tanzsuite has everyone in familiar territory until the final movement where we're surprised with a rather unexpected Polka. Very well constructed as you say and so are the Weiner pieces with the lovely Hungarian rhythms. Much fun--thanks Alfor.

Re: Alfor's Rarities
...my internet spirits did not want me to post yesterday. Indeed a better day today: birthday of Domingo...and of my mother, who btw is also a singer!
I have been told that there are two or three British gentlemen in this forum, who have a special interest in soviet composers. If this holds true, may I humbly request a line of feedback?
Rena MOISENCO
Twenty Soviet composers (London 1942) Hans GRISCH (obscure German composer and pianist, 1880-?? Pupil of Teichmüller, Krehl, Rich. Hofmann)
Walzer op. 11 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqdDSA46ICM)
Teichmüller/Hermann: "Gemütvolle Hausmusik in Schubertscher Art." Ernest AUSTIN (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernest_Austin)
4 English Pastorals op. 43
Teichmüller/Hermann: "Bedeutend besser als das vorige Opus (Sonata No. 2, posted by Sir M.). Warm empfundene romantische Stücke, moderner Art abgeneigt."

I think it's safe to say that my fellow Brits Malcolm, Isokani, and Rob are all very hot on Russian and Soviet composers.alfor wrote: I have been told that there are two or three British gentlemen in this forum, who have a special interest in soviet composers.

I used to have this book along with a lot of other communist-inspired books about Russian music back in the early 70's, most were not particularly well translated so I sold them on to a very hippy second hand LP shop who were delighted with them. Nostalgia aaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!
