Well done chaps - this little thread is rapidly turning into
a quartet (for bass, organ, and 2 pianos (one not-very-good
(moi)) all of its very own!
Btw, the answer to no.6 was Sinfonia Concertante.
Anyway, more silliness coming soon.

Here are 10 anagrams of nicknames of symphonies (some very
famous, some not as well-known) by 10 different composers.
Simply unscramble them to identify the composer in each case.
As before, the answers are in alphabetical order, and in cases
where the word 'The' sometimes starts the nickname, it has
been excluded.
(Please note that any smuttiness perceived is merely
in the mind of the beholder.)
1. Bred – magic (9)
2. Fist Eve (7)
3. Ram timeously (4,8)
4. Ungenial exhibits (16)
5. Showing-off tour tan (2,6,2,1,1,5)
6. In a tail (7)
7. Mean tit loan (11)
8. Saintlier lust (6,7)
9. Worn lewd (3,5)
10. Manic rot (8).

Me tell porky pies? Perish the thought!
(Having said that, Melton Mowbray isn't far away.)

and No.5 is "In honour of G F Watts" a symphony I must admit to never having heard of let alone heard. It is of course by Timtin's favourite composer CVS
regards
Brian
PS The nickname is sometimes listed as "In memoriam G F Watts"

Well done again chaps, particularly Brian - nothing much seems to
defeat you guys! Of course, having included a Parry symphony,
one by CVS just had to be included as well. The smut was added
like I add HP sauce to pie and chips. Us midlanders are so common!

Here's another little quiz based on composers' initials.
Simply work out the answer to each clue, which is an
abbreviation, then match that to the initials of a composer.
E.g. Engine size (1,1) = cc = Cesar Cui.
1. Computer-aided design (1,1,1)
2. Curricula vitae (1,1,1)
3. Thunderbirds expression (1,1,1)
4. e.g. Manchester United (1,1)
5. Type of radio transmission (1,1)
6. Scientifically enhanced crop (1,1)
7. Manufacturer of yellow tractors (1,1,1)
8. Motorway between London and Cambridge (1,1-1)
9. e.g. Windows XP (1,1)
10. Fetish involving covering the skin with stuff (1,1,1)
The answers are in alphabetical order of the composers'
first names.
Also, I've not been particularly consistent about including
middle names or not.
