quercus wrote:There's also a color facsimile edition of the Liszt sonata published by Henle. It's hardbound, costs a couple hundred bucks, and contains a commentary written by the pianist Claudio Arrau.
I'd be very interested in obtaining the pages written by Arrau. Can anyone help with that?
Thanks

Many thanks for the Arrau notes!
My main piano teacher (years ago) was one of Arrau's pupils, and I've been trying to track down Arrau's comments on the Liszt sonata for many years.
Thanks again!

The book "Conversations with Arrau" also has a significant discussion of the B Minor Sonata, as I recall.

Thanks Walter, I've already seen the Liszt sonata discussion in "Conversations with Arrau".
For those who might not know, Arrau was taught by a pupil of Liszt named Martin Krause.
I recently purchased a short "book" (42 pages) called "Die Klaviertechnik in der Tradition von Claudio Arrau". I don't speak German, but I'm hoping to figure out the gist of it by scanning it, running it through a German-enabled OCR program to convert page images to text, then running the text through Google Translate. We'll see how that goes...
