Now to very serious matters.
The crapagram becomes an art-form, don't blame me blame the master in this department Timtin.
You will see here below 8 anagrams of very well known composers for the piano, one of them has a christian name that can be spelled with an s at the end or without the s, depending on the encyclopedia you consult, I chose the spelling with the s just so you know I didn't crapagram the crapagram. In order to be a crapagram there must be at least a letter missing, so each anagram clue is missing a letter which I have made a little easier for you in that in each case it is the first letter of the surname, not only that, kindness personified, these missing letters form the name of another well known composer in the order given here so guess the composer and you know which letters are missing from the other clues.

1. In an Hi-tech day (9,5)
2. Grows song eel (7,6)
3. Hen form in China (8,7)
4. Man we in later (6,7)
.
5. Dave hell fan (7,5)
6. Lone thorn sang (8,6)
7. So no finches master frill (7,9,7)
8. Inure a camel mum (7,8)

So there you are 8 composers whose first letter of their surnames spells another well known composer, so who are 1-8 and who is number 9.

With respect to Tim's and Brian's animadversions on work: I normally start off my "working" day at 6 a.m. by logging on to PP, by which stage the night owls have solved most (if not all) of the puzzles. I must admit that PP brings a few moments of sanity in what normally turns out to be a hectic day fraught with minor crises - par for the course in my job as head of a pretty large University department.

Now to face up to another week of battling the myrmidons...

Thank you Jo, and thank you Brian for the latest set of teasers.
I was rather slow at doing them, due to initially failing to realise
that no.9 was in fact (4,4) rather than (8). Also, I was trying to
spot well known composers! Another slight tease was the fact
that some of the 'missing' first letters were actually duplicates
of other letters in those clues. One final point, when a crapagram
is deliberately set, is it really a crapagram at all? Anyway, great fun!
(In reality, I don't hate work - it hates me.)

Oh, you know I have nothing against Brits who fall in love with France and Frenchmen, as she did. She was kind of nymphomaniac, it seems, and slept with many famous writers/poets/musicians of her time. But yes, she wrote good music. I have in particular a recording of orchestral music which has very good moments.

Thanks for the info Jean-Seb, it makes me wonder (only in jest of course) if dear Augusta was the origin of a famous English saying.
"Queen Anne front - Mary Anne backside" relating to one being very chic and the other... well... rather well used and not pretty.
her songs are very elegant indeed, and the editions I have are examples of great taste in the front cover.

PS Congratulations to Tim for solving the quiz so quickly, hope you liked the format. Incidentally if you looked at the clues you would have seen that there was a full stop between clues 4 and 5 so you might have seen that it was a name of 4 and 4 letters.

The format was good - more or less a gridless crossword.
