Thank you so much for the Milhaud! Those are indeed rare scores.caostotale wrote:As promised, here are some reposts of Milhaud scores from a while back:
Darius MILHAUD
Piano Sonata no. 2, op. 293 (1949) Hymne de glorification, op.331 (1953–1954)
I've always felt that he was most known for writing some of his less interesting early works (esp. Le boeuf sur le toit, Saudades do Brasil) which, don't get me wrong, are very good pieces, but hardly representative of his potential. My favorite works by him are the chamber works for strings (quartets/quintets/sextet/septet/etc...) and the concertos I've heard (Harp Concerto, Cello Concerto no. 1, Piano Concertos 3 through 5). I like the piano works as well, but can understand why pianists are not particularly drawn to him as much as they might be drawn to Poulenc or Honegger.klavierelch wrote:Many thanks for the kind repost.
Milhaud's works are not always of the same high quality (he simply wrote too much to achieve that), but always interesting.
Not too chabby at all!fredbucket wrote:A glut of Chabrier from Sibley.
I would also love this work! (Not sure of its copyright status though.)Jim Faston wrote:I'm looking for a copy of Jehan Alain's Suite Monodique--does anyone have a scan that they could share? Thanks.
