What a lot of interesting pieces. Those two Indian dances by Skilton & Wolf may be some of the original innovators of those old (America) Indian war dance themes we see in the old movies--now considered hackneyed, of course. The one composer I've actually heard of here is Deems Taylor and haven't seen anything by him in years, so most welcome. Would like to get more acquainted with Versel--and a lovely little scherzo we have here.

Does anyone have the score of John Knowles Paine Op.45 Nocturne, Boston, Schmidt, ©1889?

The New England Conservatory of Music, Harvard, University of North Carolina, and Dwight Anderson Memorial Music Library of the University of Louisville have copies of the Nocturne Op.45. Has anyone purchased from any of these four universities? Do they sell to non-students?

Additional info:

Paine's 1st Sonata has never been published, according to the liner notes of the Denver Oldham album. The manuscript is at Harvard. The 2nd Sonata has been lost.

The Nocturne also appears in the reprint of his complete piano music by Da Capo Press. Well over 250 libraries hold copies.

Thanks for this immense amount of copying Musiclife, I was surprised at the name "Royal Folio" for an album of American composers, but I see it was published in Canada who were still part of the British Empire then, nevertheless I can imagine a few Americans being less than pleased at the title.
