Local radio played Niemann's Evening in Seville yesterday which is a very nice piece somewhat reminiscent of Korngold. Anyone have that?

That sounds quiet interesting! Do ya know if it's a recording made by WN himself? The dissertation by Anke Stupnik said that he played this piece for the Leipziger Rundfunk. Niemann used to play some works there quiet often (Alt-China, Das magische Buch). I think that Ein Tag im Funkhaus, Op.151 may be inspired by everyday life of the radio station. I don't know if you have the CD where Bing Bing Li played some works? In the booklet she says, that Ein Tag im Funkhaus is a collection of short sketches, that are like photographs.

Thank you very much Jim Faston! His preludes are "hidden gems" of their genre. Of course they aren't as musically as for example Rachmaninoff's but when talking about Niemann you shouldn't compare him with other composers. His music is Salon Music and was composed to be played in your living room. OMG I love Niemann <3

The middle movement of the 1st Sonata is probably my favorite Niemann.

Do you know if Anke Stupnik's dissertation is online anywhere?

No sorry, I did a lot of research but you can only order it through a german library. The whole book (576 pages) is completly written in German. so you need much acknowledgement to translate it into English. If you want, I can order it and make a PDF but it'll take a while
