Re: Alfor's Rarities
Dear Alfor,
I am sorry, but I do not have any music by Williams,
and though I have a few pieces by Corder, I do not have the work you are looking for.
Mr. P.

Re: Alfor's Rarities
Thanks these pieces, Alfor. This RÖNTGEN piece is reminiscent of some of my own counterpoint exercises from many years ago, but Johannes definitely has much better handwriting. I might comment that the W.F. Bach-Stradal is a good example of a transcription gone awry with those flowery cadenzas, but a good reminder of what was "in style" 100 years ago.alfor wrote:posted as an example of the composer's style

Konzert für die Orgel arr. August Stradal (hrs600) Would appreciate comments by 2-3% of all downloaders...

Re: Alfor's Rarities
Unbelievable I have one work by Gerrard Williams that is one more than Mr. P, surely that must be unique in Pianophilia annals.liveforpiano wrote:Dear Alfor,

I hereby post it here as a present for both Alfor and Mr. P.
Are you sure Malcolm won't confiscate it from you Mr.P, that would be criminal, but since he is away you have it for at least a week.
best wishes to all
Brian

Re: Alfor's Rarities
Thanks for all the pieces.
I have to agree that the Stradal transcription was over the top. Just because he can put all those chords in doesn't mean he should.
I wonder what he would have done if he had Finale (you know, cut and paste).

Re: Alfor's Rarities
Thank you Brian for that piece of music. If you don't tell Malcolm, I won't. In any case I have printed off a number of copies, and will hide them all over the house. He is bound to miss one or two. Mind you, I have not seen him in three years, so I feel fairly safe.HullandHellandHalifax wrote:Unbelievable I have one work by Gerrard Williams that is one more than Mr. P, surely that must be unique in Pianophilia annals.liveforpiano wrote:Dear Alfor,

Re: Alfor's Rarities
Quite a difference in the style of these two transcriptions. The Brahms-Juon is a very decent job with minimal doublings while the Bach-Stradel strives for a much fuller sound with lots of doublings and octaves (and more octaves) in a version that is much less extravagant than your previous Stradel offering, Alfor, but still not something I'd want to play in public
. Still always nice to see what was on offer in the transcription library at that point in time. Always, enlightening: Thanks, Alfor.
