Re: Etudes
No problem. Actually, I was editing my own message, whilst you were
posting yours, so confusion all round! Sorry about that.
Anyway, I'm puzzled by the question of viruses. I've had no trouble at
all with downloads from there, except when they have had an internal
server error. Interestingly, they do carry a number of files which aren't
available on IMSLP, possibly for legal reasons.

Re: Etudes
Hmm,
well it's a russian site ... and generally speaking all the russian sites I've visited do seem to trigger my anti-virus, anti-malware safeguards. I think the websites are more heavily supported financially by advertising and referrals and they are probably more aggressive in forcing you to wait through the ads and page referrals - I tend to ignore them without any adverse effects. I'm no computer geek, but it may be something to do with false positives or a simple "don't know' from the protective software.
I probably get more "alerts" from the protection software, however, whenever my wife starts browsing "shopping" sites. I am constantly having to flush them out.
I use Avast (the free version) and I agree with you I have never had a problem with downloads from there either, notwithstanding warnings from my software.
If its a real problem, the software seems to kill it anyway, so my feeling is that whatever the software is alerting you to is not a true virus at all.
Incidentally, what is the russian word for copyright - and how is it most accurately translated?
Regards,
Toby

Incidentally, (a)what is the russian word for copyright - and (b)how is it most accurately translated?
a) The word does not exist in my Russian dictionary
b) It does not exist therefore it is nothing to do with us
hehe!

Re: Etudes
Apparently, the Russian for 'copyright' is 'iавторское право сохранено'.
My rule of thumb with downloads:- if it's freely available - it's okay for private use.
With the computer set-up I have here, there is no extra anti-virus or malware
software installed, so everything comes through. (Having said that,
each of my main pcs ends up with the master hdd having to be reformatted
about once every two years, when too many bugs have sneaked in,
although this is a price I'm happy to pay.)

NMSs TYTTOS.
PS I'd be happy to post all the other Philipp files on my
list if there is a problem downloading from elsewhere.
I'm having a problem downloading one of the Philipp scores from IMSLP (file is damaged apparently).
Can you supply "Exercices et études techniques pour la main gauche" if you have it?
Thanks,
4c

Here it is directly (with a different filename), in case of further download difficulties.
