Yeah, this is definitely a curiosity. Abkhazia had around half-a-million people living in it when this was published, which is double it's current population (i.e. war with Georgia caused half of them to flee). The music's conservatism seems to match that of other volumes of this sort, especially those that represent other nationalities that were on the peripheries of Russia and, as such, did not see national conservatories opening until the twentieth-century (e.g. see also, the 'Children's Pieces by Buryat Composers', 'Pieces by Bashkir Composers', 'Pieces by Uralic Composers', etc... volumes. There's also a 'Children's Pieces by Yakut Composers' volume that I haven't yet accessed). With a number of these books, I've found myself most interested in simply learning about composers I've not heard of.

The famous adagio is like an unofficial anthem of Azerbaijan. In Soviet times this music was the musical symbol of the broadcasts of the Baku Television

Many thanks for the cleaner version of the Seven Beauties dances and Adagio.......nice to have the front page, as did not realise Leyetchkiss had arranged these pieces, so a new transcription as well. Very much appreciated.
