This time my thanks go especially for Szymanowski's Fantaisie. What a great piece this is !

Thanks again!!!

Best wishes, Ferruccio :)
Dear Mr. Busoni,

you are welcome! If you are interested in the new Szymanowski Urtext edition (blue covers),
there are a couple of polish websites where these can be obtained at budget prices!

Best regards

Dear alfor,

Thank you so very much for all the Statkowsi music. I now have Volumes 1 and 2 of his piano works on disc.
Beautifully played by Barbara Karaskiewicz. There will be a third disc to complete this series.
The first piece on the first disc is the Toccata Opus 33. I mention this especially as you have provided a much better scan of the work than we had, and this pleases me greatly. So many thanks again for finding and scanning these (and so many other) scores for us.
Peter.

Dear fleubis,

I assume you are joking!? Never heard of the Krakowiak op. 14 by an obsure
polish-born french composer named Frederic (Friedrich) Chopin ?

Krakowiak (french: Cracovienne, german: Krakauer) is a polish folkdance,
probably from the Crakow (Kraków, Krakau) region.

Today's Statkowskis will be a Toccata and some Preludes -
so hopefully no need to search the internet 8-) !

Best regards and thank you for feedback

Oh dear! I've not played that Chopin Op.14 through in over 50 years. So the Krakowiak is a polish folk dance imitating horses. When I was in Krakow last year I heard real mazurkas and even learned how to dance the mazurka, but no krakowiak!

Ah! The 3rd volume of the Statkowski and in a beautiful hires Alfor scan. Wonderful!

While the toccata is quite a nice showpiece, I am quite drawn to the op.37 preludes. I find the allegretto tempo on op.37 No.3 at 168 per crochet quite ridiculous and still ridiculous if it was a dotted crochet. But what a beautiful piece when played at a reasonable tempo. Also, I especially like prelude Op.37 No.6--that left hand ostinato-like pattern is quite captivating.

I am glad to see that Statkowki's works are being recorded as Sir Peter indicates, as that will help spread the word. Good news!

Thanks for yet another wonderful discovery, Alfred: Statkowski
