Are you sure that this volume contains the early sonata in G major???

To my knowledge this sonata has never been published (?).

The G major sonata has indeed never been published. It is still only in manuscript and should be part of the big Copland collection of the New York Public Library. Ramon Salvatore (who died in 1996) premiered and recorded this sonata in 1995.

The booklet of the Cedille recording only notes that it took the help of several people (like Samuel Ramey, Vivian Perlis etc) to get permission to play it. So I fear it will be nearly impossible to get hold of a manuscript copy until 2060 (the 70th anniversary of Copland's death).

Dresel was born in Germany and emigrated to the U.S. in 1848.

Hi everyone,

I'm looking a recording of this piano piece: Richard Wilson, Eclogue (pf. solo)
I know that there a recording released by the new world records (this: http://www.newworldrecords.org/album.cg ... m_id=17386)

I would ask if there's someone that have this cd and can sent me the recording of this piece only. Usually I buy the cd but currently I have many problem to find it... (no Amazon, thanks).

Please, if someone can help me let me know(!)

Dutch born, but generally referred to as an American composer !

Louis Victor Saar was born on Dec. 10, 1868 in Rotterdam, Holland. He graduated from the Royal Academy of Music, Munich in 1889 where he studied with Rheinberger and Bussmeyer. He then continued his studies in Vienna, Leipzig, and Berlin, including one winter with Brahms. He moved to USA where from 1893-96, he was the accompanist for the Metropolitan Opera Company. Antonín Dvorák hired Saar to teach harmony and counterpoint at the National Conservatory from 1896-98. Saar also taught at the N.Y. College of Music, Institute of Musical Art of N.Y. from 1898-1906; Cincinnati College of Music from 1906-17; and at the Chicago Musical College from 1917-34. In 1934 he moved to St. Louis to join the faculty of the St. Louis Institute of Music where he remained until his death on November 23, 1937.
