The alt versions appear a little more pristine the collected volume--appears to be B&W and not grayscale....slightly easier to read, but all are quality scans.

Too bad only No.5 from the 2nd volume found, but am happy for what we have.

Thanks Alfred.

Can't find anything Spanish in Haydn's famous melody...
but it can in fact easily be transformed into a march!

1838-???? (NOT the padre!!)

Soler's arrangment of Haydn as a march sure is a curiosity and doesn't work very well.....Papa's version is too ingrained in my memory, (and probably yours, too). Burges offers us a nice little prelude, however.

Thanks for all your postings today, Alfred.

Much fun with the wonderful Gonzalez transcriptions. I note the Bolero is from a theme from a zarzuela called "Los Diamantes de la Corona", (but of course it sounds nothing like a bolero, thanks to Ravel). His transcriptions from the zarzuela "Jugar con Fuego " (play with fire) by Francisco Asenjo Barbieri are outstanding, but no where is Barbieri mentioned in any of these score. We have all but 2 of these pieces. It seems to have been a very popular zarzuela as Gonzalez took the time to write 7 transcriptions. They are great fun.

Wonderful, Alfred!

P.S.: I scratch my head just a bit wondering how Espadero got bask to Spain. :D
