Re: Salon music
This seems like the best place to post my link. I have had this book published by Oliver Diston Company (1893) for a while now but had not scanned it as I didn't have access to a scanner I felt comfortable using that I would not further damage the book. I was able to utilize our library's KIC Book Eye 4 which is a marvel, fast high res scanning from above, etc.
At 600 DPI the file size is approx 750 mb give or take. 148 pages. various composers (French, German), I think this book was probably released for a Salon or Parlor market based on the works and era/age of the selections, style, etc.
I have compressed the file to a rar format and have it on my google drive available for download. Those not wanting to download form scribd are welcome to PM me an email (preferrably gmail.com as I think you need it to access the drive) and I can invite you/give you download access (it is restricted by email I must add you as a user to the file and you recieve an access link), and I'll turn it on from my end for you.
I do not have a premium mediafire account so this is the only way I could get it hosted without having to buy a subscription beucase of the MB size of the book.
composers are on the table of contents page and in the description/info box within the link.

Same thing for me.
Nice collection indeed. We have already a number of items, but not all of them definitely.

Re: Salon music
sincere apologies to those that could not access via scribd (I believe they let people download indefinately once they sign up, it is free, but you must have a log in and upload at least a document or two, that's how I was able to use it).
At the very least it will serve as a good 'preview'. I will follow through with the gmail.com and google drive option (some have already messaged me and I was able to send it out). In the meantime I will check my other account over at 4shared to see if I can get it to work there. If successful I will post a link for that server.
Also, this is my first real 'contribution' to the board and first real attempt at scanning something large and singificant (to me at least), I will attempt in the future to make multiple versions i.e smaller files perhaps by 'chunking' it into a single scan/pdf single piece but still group the files together to make them more accessible to all.

This might be a good alternative for some. Non compressed (PDF format) file, the only leg work that might be requried might be to create a user name and password (free takes like 20 seconds, i.e. like signing up for an email).Scriabinoff wrote:...At the very least it will serve as a good 'preview'. I love that 4shared gives me 15 gb and so far no file size limits. I will still try and utilize mediafire and such as I can in the future as I think it works well for most folks.

Your hard work in scanning this volume is certainly appreciated, but the book is available from Sibley in a compact black and white file.

Hello,
Sibley is the Eastman School's music library. They have an ongoing project to digitize (hopefully) all of their music scores that are in the public domain and make them available to the public. You can search from here:

I wouldn't remove your post--alternate scans are not a bad thing. However, at 750 megabytes your file is a hefty download. There are members here that have the expertise and tools to possibly whittle it down to a more manageable size without loss of quality. I'll probably pick some brains for pointers on their techniques in a different area of the forum.

Re: Salon music
Scriabinoff's Album has a little "plus" in addition to Sibley's scanned album : a nice crimson and gold cover!
Thank you any way Scriabinoff, because I also had forgotten about the album being available at Sibley.

This is Charles Le Paige's Le Bijou Valse Lente,
although it doesn't seem particularly lente to me!
