Can't thank you enough Alfor. It's really a pity that you don't have the 24 preludes alsoalfor wrote:As requested by Daniel:

However, having the Piano Sonata is already a great treat and we are looking to a really great raritie here IMHO. I do believe there's several traces of jazz music, but more specifically, the sonata is about a mix of dances and the respective variations on each one. That goes from tangos and habaneras in the first movement and in a bit of the second, and then, when we reach the second and third movement the composer brings some blues sonorities to us, after a gorgeous introduction on the second movement, carrying a beautiful melody. The piano playing is not exactly easy, I must say.
Also, let me thank you for a recent recording you shared, and although we do not see members talk about your recordings so often, there's a lot of rarities posted by you in that thread, and indeed, the Richard Bakst playing Juliusz Zarebski is a really fine offering, and since I discovered the beauty of Zarebski music I've benn enjoying a lot the recordings of his music, and for that matter you contributed a lot.
Great discovery and as always, thanks for your kind spirit of sharing.

Re: Alfor's Rarities
It's fine to have something simple every now and then, specially if it's posted by you! I want to thank you a lot for the Isserlis, since with this opus we have all the works mentioned in the first pages...Also, it's really amazing if we took the time to look through the last page to see what has been published by the music publisher and realize we have almost every piece from there thanks to Alfor. You're really a gift from the Gods of Musicalfor wrote:Thank you for feedback!

Re: Alfor's Rarities
Like Daniel, I share his enthusiasm for the Weismann sonata. It is a very interesting attempt, and not wholly successful, at various jazz idioms but is much fun to play.
But dear Alfred, I think the difficulty of the Isserlis jugenderinnerungen is consistent with his other works which are all of intermediate difficulty. Die Hummel is much fun to play and is a good piece of the genre. I do think Isserlis's harmonic palate is somewhat bland and ultra conservative, but so what? I greatly enjoy the broad selections we get from your daily postings.

Re: Alfor's Rarities
Along with friend Aggelos, I do am astonished at your 2000 files of recordings and piano music on your site. That is an outstanding accomplishment by any standard. Your devotion to your chosen task is greatly admired by all of us.
And thanks for the lovely Askenase edition of the Mazurkas. This extremely well thought out edition is by no means over edited, IMHO. I especially admire the explicit pedaling indications, something I've not often seen with this kind of refined taste.

Re: Alfor's Rarities
Thanks for part "B" of the Askenase edition mazurkas, Alfred. These are a real help for me, as I find the mazurkas to be the hardest Chopin to play, especially when I heard some real masters perform some of them in Warsaw last year--quite an eye opener.
