Well-crafted. I prefer the pianist, though.

To Peter, with compliments:

Franz Xaver NERUDA
Tema mit Variationen in H moll op. 49
Neruda Tema mit Variationen op.49.pdf
Faintly influenced by Grieg's Ballade op. 24. On a much grander scale than most of his other piano works (except the Preludes and Fugues). Many good moments. The Finale not quite as substantial and effective
as you might have desired.

Alfred, thank you for the very substantial Matthews and Neruda pieces. I prefer larger scale works like and these and can get more of a sense of the composers style. Especially welcome is the Neruda since the only other large scale piece we have is the Op.19 Sonata and this theme & variations is much more nature and substantial. i can see what you mean about the finale....I often get tempted to re-write things like this but don't have enough knowledge about the composers style yet, but there is quite a lot of superb piano writing here.

Charming set of little pieces, the Neruda, op.8.....I'm guessing that the publisher is Dutch, but I still can't make any sense out of the title page. Children will like these little pieces very much. Thank, Alfred.
