I concur with our colleague Dani that these Jadassohn pieces are very nice indeed, lushly romantic. This master of canon took a breather here in these very interesting pieces. Nice posting, Alfred.

The unknown composer:

Pavel BLATNY
Suita 1957 pro klavír Well-crafted work. Many ostinata patterns. Faint Janacek influence.

Alfred, I'm afraid the BLATNY is more to your liking than mine as the technical construction is more interesting on paper than when played, IMHO. Negotiating those 10ths proved interesting for my small hands , but I did get through it and the composers intentions are unambiguous if somewhat strident to my old ears. It is definitely something different!

As this is our national day here in the US, I celebrated by playing Horowitz's "Stars & Stripes"....I think I'm finally getting the piccolo part right!

The temperamental first piece influenced by Chopin and Tchaikovsky. The shorter second piece a true
"Consolation" with a more agitated middle section. Of medium difficulty. Fall well under the hands.

You are certainly right. But as I did not check my own postings, I did a double scanning, from a different copy, though, with colour scans of the first two pages. I would have been frustrated to discard my second scan...

Really nice high quality pieces by both Schutt & Friedman. A real joy to play such. While I am normally bored silly with waltzes, there are several interesting ones here. The real find for me is the Friedman Etude....there is quite a bit there to keep me technically and musically occupied with great enjoyment. Thanks for these postings, Alfred.
