Re: Alfor's Rarities
The Skerjanc improvistion really lives up to its title in both form and substance and is very much a light weight piece which sounds considerably more difficult than it is. Happily, it is not terribly difficult and the composer has given us the excellent fingering need to pull this piece off. Sure is a big change from the very formal preludes and fugues of last week.
Thanks, Alfred!

Nikolai MIASKOVSKY
Sonata No. 3 op. 19 (first edition) If you need a break from those overly complicated scores like Clementi Sonatinas or Diabelli duets...
(Sorry, but this score is slightly suffering from the ugly disease called "Procrustrosis".)

Dear Alfor
Many thanks for the Ferenc Weisz! It looks rather good... if you can lay your hands on any other pieces by him, it would be great to see them. I'm doing a bit of research myself, so will keep people posted.
All best wishes

Re: Alfor's Rarities
Thanks a lot for Franco Mendes. Really interesting experiments he does. And I always like waltzes, so that helps
.
Best Regards.

You are welcome! There is a certain evidence that only a couple of Weisz' works have been published. Some second-hand copies are currently available for sale (very expensive!). I will keep on looking!
All best wishes
P.S. I finally memorised the word "Roszavölgyi"...

Re: Alfor's Rarities
To Philipp, with compliments
Frédèric BINET (French composer, 18??-1918)
1ère Sonatine pour le Piano op. 35 Despite the rather simple style this piece is well composed, has a specific charm and -
although from a certain distance - there is the spirit of Schumann hovering over the music.
