Missed it? Dear Alfred, you have no idea how much I would miss but for your very generous postings. And this is a piece surely not to be missed. It is a bit more chromatic than Theodore Kirchner, but very likeable. I just love the climax commencing on p.11. I rather wish he would not have returned to the opening material after this, but it's composer's choice. At only moderate difficulty it should find a place on many pianos.

To Ferruccio (a.k.a. "The Incognito Pianist**"), with compliments:
The well-known pianist was a good composer, as this work prooves (out-of-print for decades!)
Louis KENTNER

Excellent!

a brilliant transcription of Beethoven's "Hammerklavier" sonata for Triangle solo.

Dear Alfor,
thank you very much for this piece !!

All I knew from Kentner so far (besides recordings) is his book about piano. This Sonatina here is MUCH better than that !
Thanks again !!
Best regards,
Ferruccio, the incognito triangle virtuoso ....

Alfred, I just looked at my copy of Ferruccio's Hammerklavier transcription and am still trying to understand why he marked it "tacit"! It must be because I'm not in the same league as him as I'm not a virtuoso triangle specialist.
Anway, that Kentner sonatina is really good, especially once I got the rhythm of the first few bars under control. What a surprise this piece is.
Kullak's hymn can be described as "magestic" and is quite a lark. Quite a change of pace from the compact Kentner.
Thanks for filling the void on my Saturday, Alfred, with these great pieces.

Dear Alfred, this first Kentner Sonatina displays the composers Hungarianian heritage. He sets a high standard and the 4th movement, Csardas is a rollicking Hungarian dance and is one I actually got to see performed in Budapest last year. So it's deja vu all over again for me. I am still astonished that this very well known pianist has written such good music, and that it is rather unknown. Thanks, Alfred, for posting this.

Better than his op. 53, imho.

Thanks Alfred for enhancing our Muller collection with these little sonatinas. I would agree with you the Op.20 sonatinas are better than his Op.53 sonatinas, except that I think his Op.20 No.3, the Kleine Suite is better than either set IMHO. Anyway, Muller is a good miniaturist and I very much like his tonal sensibilities. All his works seen so far are good teaching pieces.
