Hermann Adolf Wollenhaupt (1827-1863)
Wollenhaupt wrote quite a lot of interesting piano works.
Here is his Galop di Bravura Opus 24. I was not really sure where to put this, so if wrong, please alter.

Talking of thread selection, this file is well dodgy, being a song.
But because the vocal line matches the right hand, it works equally well
as a piano piece. Very sentimental, and written by care-free Gertrude!

Timtin:

Thanks for this score, nice song, and for those who are interested Let me share a recent book -2003- about her life and career by Robert Tallant Laudon, Professor Emeritus of Musicology, University of Minnesota.

Many thanks Ilu - I'd no idea that a biography existed for the relatively obscure GSS.

You are welcome, she is an interesting composer; the score uploaded is a classic example of salon music.

it would be great to know more about her compositions.

This piece somehow conjures up thoughts of an entire era.

Hello,

""This piece somehow conjures up thoughts of an entire era.""

Well indeed it does, but I'm not sure why you've posted it in the salon forum. Knowing that you enjoy setting fiendish puzzlers and teasers, I am now looking for some hidden meaning in this particular posting.

I have just posted to IMSLP his Valse d'Automne Op. 146: http://imslp.org/wiki/Valse_d%27Automne ... MSLP246420.
It should be available once they have done the copyright clearance!

No hidden meaning, just me being even dafter than usual (if that's possible).
Actually, this is also worrying me from a thread-choice point of view,
Emmett Adams 'A Song Without Words' (literally). Any budding lyricists
out there could win some money by adding lyrics to it - well, you perhaps
could have done some 90 odd years ago.
