For now here is Emil's very first (published) Etude, which he himself did not equip with a number (probably not yet having decided to compose more than 30 Etudes).

Concert Etude (No. 1)

Dear Alfred, this Sauer etude just fits the hands like a glove, it is so well written for the piano. Clearly Sauer had big hands as there are scattered 10ths here and there, but not much of a hindrance for my small hands. I find his etudes consistently excellent.

I am glad to hear that you are pursing the acquisition of the Schwarenka brothers repertoire as this is clearly great material that needs to be exhumed from the oblivion of dusty libraries.

Meanwhile, I am still reveling in the versatility of Ruyneman and his nocturnes and kleine sonate.

Dear Alfor, pianojay has hit on one of the key benefits of your postings of otherwise available pieces, and that is the scan quality. While I have had the Sauer etudes for a number of years, it has not been worth the effort to really dig into these pieces when the scores are difficult to read. However, with the hires scan you post, dear Alfred, it is great fun put more work into many of these pieces. Thanks for posting!

Thanks for the Jadassohn, Alfor! Do you have the other volumes? Are the complete volumes anywhere near the complete piano works? I already have a folder near my piano with all I could get from IMSLP .
