There's a recording of the Wieniawski Piano Concerto paired with Tausig's re-working of the Chopin 1st played by Setrak. I don't know whether or not it's still in print.

The Wieniawski concerto is a real romantic barnburner, sure to please those with a virtuosic sweet-tooth! However, the quality of Setrak's playing is questionable, and I hope Hamish Milne can deliver. I have had some problems with his technique, so I won't hold my breath.

Non, je regrette que je ne sais pas, m'sieur, mais it occurs to me that there may be something of an irony here, in that Chopin (perhaps predicting both Reger's infamous barb about the critic's review and the smallest room of his house and the later rise and rise of muzak) ruefully observed that polite English society seemed to love nothing more than having music to accompany their every social activity and that it might eventually become impossible even to go to the toilet in their grand houses without one's activity there being serenaded by music; Chopin was, of course, French on his father's side and so maybe there was some connection between this and the fact that, as you say, so much French music was printed on papier de toilette...

Best,

Alistair

With this particular concerto, it would be better if even more were missing.
