Émile Jaques-Dalcroze (1865 – 1950), was a Swiss composer, musician and music educator who developed eurhythmics, a method of learning and experiencing music through movement. Further information via Wikipedia:

Thank you for one more rarity! D. is on my want list - I did not know that Augener was among his publishers. Was D. an Anthroposophist?
Best regards, Alfor S. Cans

Re: Composers from Switzerland
Hi alfor, not as far as I know, the antropops seem to think their system developed by Rudolf and Marie Steiner is superior and more inclusive, they stole the name (more or less) calling it eurhythmy or euritmie dependent on where you live and not eurhythmics which is J-D's name for it I presume. Eurhythmy is a form of movement to words or music where the notes, letters are expressed through certain hand positions and other gestures without the fun aspect of jumping and leaping, in other words it is ballet with your feet firmly on the ground (grand jeters are not allowed) but your head in the philosophical clouds. If you forget the philosophy and just enjoy the action it can be quite enjoyable.alfor wrote:Thank you for one more rarity! Hi Brian,
personally not involved in Anthroposophism, I know some people who are and I am living near a Steiner school (in German: Waldorf Schule). Thank you for some clarifying remarks on the subject!
