Re: Alfor's Rarities
I second that. So much mid-late 19th century Germanic piano music seems to have been modelled on Brahms, but this is one of the few Brahmsian works that I would enjoy playing and listening to as much as I would Brahms' own music. This is really fine repertoire, but I agree with Fleubis that the titling is strange!fleubis wrote:Dear Alfor, thank you indeed for the Weber Elegien. It is great to finally have another piece to play by this interesting composer as I had always wonder what he did after his op.1 Sonata. These Elegien seem rather misnamed to me, but are certainly very grateful to play.

Re: Alfor's Rarities
Dear Alfred, how nice to have a new work to play be G. Schumann. His harmonies are always interesting and his ideas rather original. The first piece, No.4 really doesn't sound very good on the piano, so I played it on my synth with an organ patch to get a feel for it and I imagine it sounds quite full with proper registration,. The real gem is No.5 which is well written for the piano and up to the composers very high standards.

Re: Alfor's Rarities
Dear Alfor
I am indeed still around, if sporadically. Last week, for example, I was in a village in eastern Slovakia having a rather relaxing time. Walking in the High Tatras etc. And typesetting a Symphonia claviensis written in the 1970s. But the internet gave out on the second day and after that I was pleasantly unreachable. So thanks very much indeed for the HEXAMERON of Siegfried Karg-Elert. One of my favourite composers but one which, until now, I have not performed. I even requested an organ work of his to be performed at my wedding. His oeuvre, regrettably, is terra incognita for the local organists ...

you are welcome!
The Internet indeed is an ambivalent thing. So we all should be from time to time be "pleasantly unreachable"!
Also good to know that you are married!! I am in fact - positively of course

And if you now would tell tell me, that you have a handful of kids, the picture in my head
would completely be turned over...

Anyway - hope to supply you further on with one or the other rare score of interest for you!
Best regards,
alfor

Re: Alfor's Rarities
To Ferruccio and isokani, with compliments.
Paul KLETZKI
Fantasie op. 9 Large work, improvisatory throughout. Looks like a Reger organ score and indeed very much
plays like Reger, but does not sound like Reger. How does it then sound? Think of Brahms,
middle Scriabin, Szymanowski and Kornauth.

Re: Alfor's Rarities
Dear Alfor,
terrific upload! I simply love piano music by conductors/composers. Any chance for more Kletzki, especially his wonderful Preludes op.4?
Thank you very much in advance and thank you for your gret work here!
Best wishes,
George(ham)
