České týdnů (6):

genuine teutonic alfor scan

The 1st movement exhibits some impressionistic influence,
the last movement, a Perpetuum mobile/Toccata, mainly in unisons,
comes with regards of Chopin.

Vrána (1914 - 1975)

Not to be confused with a chess player or actor bearing the same name. This fellow was a Czech pianist & composer.
He attended the Conservatory in Brno, studied the organ with Eduard Tregler and composition with Viléma Petrželka. For graduate work he went on to Prague to study with JOSEPH SUK and Vitezslav Novak and piano with Vilém Kurz .
Between 1939 and 1945 he was the pianist in the studio in Ostrava Cs. Radio and after the liberation, he worked as a pianist and music director in Prague. Other piano works which we might encounter include the Prelude & Passacaglia (1936), Preludes (1939), Serenade (1948) and Fantasie (1949). (ed. I hope I've got most of this right! Very difficult to interpret machine translation of Czech)

Meanwhile, somebody called "fleubis" spent an interesting afternoon playing through a sonata by this composer and got his thumbs caught between the keys while playing the whirlwind finale and trying to put out the fire of the 3rd mov't 'Presto con fuoco'. Composers should write less dangerous music or insure that pianists keep a Feuerlöscher handy.

Yes Alfred, I can give my fingers a rest with Bass's this nice languid salon music. Of course everything seems a little slow after being in the fast lane with Vrána.

Thanks, Alfred.
