Thanks for hints how to remove markings. The markings are old, it appears it is an old ballpen. I will check once again in the daylight.

I spent ages yesterday rubbing out numerous hard-to-erase pencil
markings on rare Stanford Op178 score, prior to scanning it soon.
A soft clean white rubber works well, but it got me thinking about
such markings.
Why mark any rare score? Most folk wouldn't mark ordinary books,
certainly not rare ones, would they?
Do pencil markings actually help? When I play, I just ignore them
(except where there are corrections to printing errors or where very low
or very high notes need to be quickly identified).
If students of the piano can't read and interpret adequately what is
printed, I'm not sure if they can read and interpret pencil markings
adequately either, but maybe this is very much a minority view.

Thanks for your postings. I'm enjoying visiting with these old friends in the PWM edition.

Yes indeed, we are all benefiting from kamator´s filling in of missing PWM catalog entries. Mostly "old chestnuts" which are fun to encounter again. They are usually considerably better than what passes for "student editions".
