TADEUSZ SZELIGOWSKI: Concerto for Orchestra / Piano Concerto / 4 Polish Dances
After the Second World War, the Polish composer Tadeusz Szeligowski settled in Poznan´, where he was instrumental in the formation of the Poznan´ Philharmonic and served as its first director. His Comedy Overture is a short, brilliantly orchestrated composition. In his Four Polish Dances, Szeligowski explores the rich culture of his homeland’s folk music, as did many of his Polish contemporaries. The virtuosic Piano Concerto is written in the neo-classical style that Szeligowski mastered during his studies in Paris, and his Concerto for Orchestra, one of the first compositions to tackle this form, is an impressive contribution to the European orchestral repertoire of the first half of the twentieth century.
lutoslawski wrote:Any body here has piano scores from Paul Kletzki? Perhaps the Preludes Op.4 or Fantasie Op.9 .
Or is this request a little bit not proper?
Kletzki died in 1973 and according to Grove most of his compostitions were destroyed in WW2. So I think posting at least some of his scores here would not be unreasonable.

Joseph Wieniawski (1837-1912) Polish pianist and composer, bother to the violinist Henryk. Studied at the Paris Conservatoire with Zimmerman, Marmontel, Alkan for piano and LeCouppey in composition. In 1851 went on tour with his brother; and from 1855-56 studied with Liszt at Weimar, returning to Paris in 1857. In 1866 he settled in Moscow as a teacher at the conservatoire, but soon established his own piano shool, which flourished. In 1975-76 he became director of the Warsaw Music Society; then settled in Brussels teaching at the Conservatoire. He was also noted for his many successful concert tours across Europe.
I have posted two extremely rare works by Wieniawski -

Adolf Gustaw Sonnenfeld (1837-1914), Polish composers of Jewish descent, composed operettas, ballets, and popular dances. If I understand it right the popular Twardowski theme is a sort of Polish variant of the Faust legend. Sonnenfeld's Ballet Pan Twardowski premiered in 1871 and based on the popular book Mistz Twardowski by Ignacy Kraszewski which was first published in 1839.
More Wieniawski. Malcolm's post promted me to see what else I had that was not on IMSLP, I've scanned the relevant works hoping they are new to the forum. Playing through some of this last night I was struck by how attractive much of it was - perhaps we'll need to record some!
