Dear Phillip,

Thank you so much for posting the hauntingly beautiful "A Memory Garden" for us all to enjoy. Definitely a post WWI sentimental ballad akin to pieces as "Just As The Sun Went Down." I greatly appreciate your generosity in posting this, as well as your wonderful recording on YouTube (which I highly recommend for all fans of good salon music)!

All Best,

Frank

Jean-Séb wrote:It certainly does. Eugène Nollet is quite a mystery. French or English ? He seems to have written lots of melodic parlour pieces, like this one, recorded by one of our members:

Thank you.
There is a "rue Nollet" in Paris, but it refers to a 18th Century priest and physicist.

I see some interesting "new" pieces by Nollet posted online

Op. 63 - Menuet Favori

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pg7xzBuSGKo

Op. 56 - L'heure du Couvre-feu - Souvenir du Vieux Paris [simply titled here as "Off Time"]

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkbJfbV0 ... ure=relmfu

Scores are listed on WorldCat... I wonder if they're anywhere digitized online?

I think that Nollet deserves a listing on IMSLP, too !! Love that Elegie Op. 88!
