Piano Etudes

Hello Brian,

I have a set of 24 Etudes by Kessler that I am going to scan for the site, but there is no opus number given.
The reason I mention these is because the 9th Etude has been marked by my friend Walter Ryan as "of Chopin Opus 25 No.1"

This etude is in A Flat. But the Chopin connection prompted me to write.

I will scan these, in any case, and get them put on the site ASP.

Hello Peter, thanks for the offer but I believe these are available, and I can't have you wasting your valuable time. I am absolutely certain that they are Op.20 as indeed No.9 is very strongly reminiscent of Op.25 No.1. What I am looking for is one that is in C and strongly reminiscent of Op.10 No.1...are you sure you don't have it hidden away in your cornucopia.

Thanks for the information Brian. You have saved me quite a lot of time.
Unfortunately these are the only etudes I have by this composer.

Although IMSLP lists the 24 Preludes by Kessler (presumably the same 24 that Peter has), the PDF file there contains only Book 1 (preludes 1-12). So Peter may well have to scan the remaining dozen, unless somebody already has the complete set and can post Book 2 for us!

That's an excellent point Nogbert...I also downloaded the Kessler etudes and found that only Vol I. is posted on IMSLP. Peter, do you have all 24 etudes and if so could you when convenient scan #13-24 for us all? These are fine pieces and I for one would enjoy playing them immensely. With sincere thanks,
