Thanks, Malcolm, for the Nicodé which is highly welcome.

I don't want to start long discussions about Poland and I certainly won't question today's borders of Poland. But historically seen Nicodé was effectively born in Prussia / Germany. From 1793 to 1918 (with a short Napoleonic intermezzo) Posen was part of South Prussia and the government as well as the official government language was German. Furthermore his father was of French descent.
So I wouldn't claim him as a Polish composer, but a German composer of French origin. He was as much Polish as for example Blacher was Chinese (and in the case of Blacher his birthplace was really part of China at the time of his birth). Nationality is much more than a question of the birthplace.

Klavierelch......I quite agree and did ponder over where to place him since we didn't have a Prussia thread and was torn between the two, so settled for current boundaries. I have changed this posting accordingly and transferred to Composers from Germany (Misc) thread.

no, it had been released by Selene. But their homepage doesn't list the content of each CD.

Hello Precalculus,

I have found that Karol Radziwonowicz has his own web site.
The Paderewski volume four on Selene contains:

Polish Dances opus 9
Klavierstucke (Suita) Opus 1
and the Sonata in E flat minor

It also shows Volumes 1-2 and 3 all on Selene. This seems to be a new Complete version of the piano works.

Best Regards

Hello

thank you for the infos.
But my problem is: between the Suite op. 1 and the sonata there are 2 pieces I can't identify.
Either the Suite op.1 has more than 2 pieces, or there are 2 other works recorded. I knew the Radziwonowicz site, unfortunately there is no tracklist.

Hello Precalculus,

I just went into the Selene site to have another look and cannot find an answer to your problem. I see also that they have a disc of
Wieniawski Vol.2 which contains his Piano sonata.

I went through the motions of purchasing these discs, but when I was filling in the form and they ask for credit card information I noticed they had no "Lock" on the site so would not proceed any further, and cancelled the order.
I don't know which country you are in, but I cannot find a place in the UK that I can purchase these discs. The ones I went into came up blank when I put Selene records into the search. Amazon showed a couple but say they are no longer available??? Oh!! and one disc that was was priced at over £69. Naturally I bought ten of these.

All the best.

Peter.

Precalculus - hopefully the attached file will answer your questions.

I have tried to use Selene in the past but CDs never arrived [and thankfully I was never charged]. Although they did send me the scan of the backs of the two CDs in question.

Any hope that helps ?
