Have there been any piano transcriptions or just straight reductions made of religious choral music or Renaissance motets? I'm thinking of the kind of music I used to hear at St. Thomas Church in New York City.
I'm not sure how to describe it exactly so here are some examples of the kinds of choral works I'm thinking of:

Larry, check out the organ works by Frescobaldi, they are all two-stave pieces with obvious vocal lines on polyphonic principles, therefore sometimes not easy to read, they go under the names Canzone and Ricercari and give the impression of being transcriptions of vocal pieces. I would also check out organ music from the two Gabrieli's which are also instrumental or choral-based "realisations" for the organ.
