Thank you Jo!
(As a matter of interest, Jo sent me a PM with all 10
correct solutions approximately 5 minutes after the
questions were posted on Monday.)

That doesn't surprise me. Jo (like me) is a chemist.Timtin wrote:Thank you Jo!

Re: Musical puns, jokes, and teasers
I'm a mathematician (with delusions of grandeur).
It seems to me that if you drew a Venn diagram of
Pianophiliacs and Crosswordphiliacs, the intersection
of the two circles would be somewhat small.

So why haven't you taken part? Are chemists generally good at crosswords?fredbucket wrote:That doesn't surprise me. Jo (like me) is a chemist.Timtin wrote:Thank you Jo!

Re: Musical puns, jokes, and teasers
Most of these are very hard, but a couple of easy ones which may help get you all thinking along the right lines.
These composers have something in common. What is it? And who are they?
1 Antibacterial liquid Christmas (5)
2 Sea-shell in a Spring month (8)
3 Leather-cloth, almost nothing (9)
4 Flying rodents with ecstasy & sorceress (8)
5 Guiding and encouraging, almost (6)
6 Kidney vehicle? (7)
7 Indian wrap-around a Norwegian rock band, almost (8)
8 Belonging to a male line-manager (7)
9 Pines eggs (7)
10 Three Wise Men (4)

Re: Musical puns, jokes, and teasers
Thanks, Rob - definitely not so easy! To get the ball rolling:
2. Maconchy
7. Saariaho
Should serve to establish the common link!

Re: Musical puns, jokes, and teasers
Presumably all are/were women composers.
Did almost nobody bother with my quiz due to its ease,
or was there some more worrying (for me) reason?
I thought my clues were quite good!
