After i misunderstood the title , here goes my list.
But, somebody mentioned chopin violin sonata? -- Are you kidding me?

Brahms - Cello concerto
Rachmaninov - String quartet or Piano Quartet
Scriabin - Violin Concerto or Piano concerto in his Late style

I like this list! But:

Franck: We have the Cortot arrangement of the Violin Sonata masquerading as a fine Piano Sonata. Does anyone here play it?

A Wagner Symphony? Marius Constant created a symphony from Debussy's Pelleas et Melisande. It strikes me as perfectly possible for someone to do the same with Tristan & Isolde. I wonder if anyone already has?

A Verdi Mass? Hmmmm... It would always have been very theatrical. I've done his Requiem three or four times and it is always a joy to sing (apart from a couple of odd phrases in the fugue.)

A Faure Piano Sonata? I think it might be possible to put together a group of his pieces in the guise of a sonata. It would have to include the incredible Thirteenth Nocturne - perhaps my favourite Faure work.

An Elgar Requiem? Well actually, there is one. He just didn't call it that: From Wikipedia:

I had the great pleasure of singing this four or five years ago. The finale always made tears stream down my cheeks...

A Sibelius Cello Concerto? The opening of the Fourth Symphony always sounds like the material wanted to be a cello concerto, but ultimately expanded to be very much more. There are of course a couple of slight pieces for Cello that Sibelius orchestrated. I think his Violin Concerto to be one of the finest ever written (alongside the Walton, Elgar, Mendelssohn and Beethoven), so a Viola Concerto or Cello Concerto would have been magnificent.

The Schoenberg Symphonies? If only. Still we have his Pellease & Melisande. The Second Chamber Symphony is a good piece and not (to me at least) as fierce as the First.

Scriabin - Violin Concerto or Piano concerto in his Late style

"Prometheus, The Poem of Fire" is almost a piano concerto in his late style.

1) Schubert PIano Concerto (and I'm discounting Liszt's arrangement of the Wanderer Fantasy).
2) Flanders and Swann - Rondo Alla Turca the way it should (!) have been.

Brahms's Clarinet Concerto, Cello Concerto, and Symphonic Variations.
Haydn's 2 Piano Quartets and 6 String Quintets.
Mozart's Concerto for Piano and Violin.
Schubert's Violin Concerto and Piano Concerto.
Spohr's Piano Concerto and Concerto for Flute, Harp, and Violin.
Tchaikovsky's Piano Quartet, Piano Quintet, and String Quintet.

Interesting thread. The Sibelius 8th is certainly a mouth-watering mystery. Received wisdom tells us it was written but destroyed. However i recall reading once that in conversation with Thomas Beecham, Sibelius said simply 'There is no 8th'. (Meaning he never bothered to write it?) I have a friend in Helsinki, and I once asked him what people thought about that in Finland. He said no one really has a clue.

Bruckner wrote some rather undistinguished organ music as a young man. Wonder what he would have given us had he returned to writing for the instrument later in life?

A shame Elgar never set the Anglican canticles. From all I've read about Elgar -which is a fair amount- there's no indication he even considered it.
