And the very last of the Friml. I'm now "friml'ed" out so on to something with a little more depth.......

Re: Czech & Slovak Composers
A somewhat more obscure Czech composer - Frantisek Picka (1873-1918). Organist, conductor and composer. Born into a musical family and received his training in Prague. Held several posts as chorus master and opera conductor. His opera "The Painter" flopped but he is best remembered for his church music, including nine masses.
I have posted his Husitska Rhapsodie.

Re: Czech & Slovak Composers
I compiled this file from the images online at the University of North Carolina library website: Joseph Gelinek's piano variations on the same Weigl tune that Beethoven used in his opus 11 trio:

Re: Czech & Slovak Composers
Yes, but he was neither Czech nor Slovak, but Croatian by birth and possibly Serbian by heritage.lutoslawski wrote:Would Marko Tajcevic's Songs of Mur Island be of interest to anyone here ????

So the Balkan thread would be the right place for this composer.
