Music for Oboe, Cor Anglais or Bassoon
Two of the more difficult instruments to play, but nonetheless a unique sound. Interestingly, the English Horn as translated here is neither English nor a horn, but I suppose that's one of the glorious illogicalities of music.
Ravel to start off with - an arrangement of the Pavane pour une Infante Defunte for Cor Anglais and piano. and the Sonata for English Horn and Piano by the prolific but nonethless very important Paul Hindemith. Regards
Fred

Re: Music for Oboe and Cor Anglais
Thanks for these, Fred.
Most probably the instrument was originally named "cor anglé" which was then developed into "cor anglais".

Except my understanding is that there is no word "anglé" in any European language?klavierelch wrote:Thanks for these, Fred.

Re: Music for Oboe and Cor Anglais
It should be French for "angled" or "angular".
