Bach organ music

Post by nachoba »

Hello dear organists,
I wanted to know if someone has at hand a copy of Nun Komm' der Heiden Heiland BWV 659.
I have the one with the UT clef on the left hand, but it turns out really difficult to read for me, and I have little time to prepare the piece
Thanks so much in advance
best regards

Hope this is what you want, it is an oversized old Novello edition.

I'm currently trying to collect all 20-odd of the Novello Edition Books of Bach's Organ Music.

Most are relatively easy to locate, but I've drawn a blank with both Book 13 and Book 14.

It would be interesting to know why these two are so elusive, where I might find them, and exactly what pieces are contained in them.

Any information on any of these three questions would be much appreciated, thank you.

Hi Tim,
I am afraid you will have very little luck in locating these two volumes, Novello discontinued them long, long ago when a volume of Bachs organ music was at most between 6/6d and 12/6d per volume. For those not brought up in the good old days of pounds, shillings and pence that equates to about 30p - 62.5p. For none Uk people that only know the euro that is about 35c-70c per volume. They discontinued these two volumes simply because all the Chorale Preludes are to be found in volumes XV-XIX. My information came from the back cover of Vol.XVI, The Schublers etc. I have never seen either of the two volumes you want but you never know your luck even though in fact, you only need them for completions sake and not because they contain preludes that are not in the other volumes.
Good luck

Hi quercus and Brian - thank you both for the extremely helpful information provided. They are two books which I would really only need for completeness, but I now realise that that quest is made even harder by there being not 20-odd but 29 books in total!
