Re: Salon music
Charles Gilbert Spross’ Barcarolle posted by Tobyjj -on May 3, 2011- i is really beautiful. The theme, development and versatility evidence that his composer is really talented.
I've been looking for his other piano compositions and I have not had any luck; Maybe some member of PP can post something else.
Thank you.
P.S. About the composer:
"Born in Poughkeepsie, New York, (1874-1961), Charles Gilbert Spross served as the organist for several churches in New York and New Jersey throughout his career.
He also toured extensively with many famous singers of his day, including Caruso, Garden, Gluck, Homer, Melba, Nielsen, Nordica, Schumann-Heink, and Ysaÿe.
In addition to his prolific song output, Spross also composed other vocal works for vocal ensemble, including anthems, partsongs, and cantatas.
